I have a need for quilted bubinga bindings. Do you have any or, with all those sets you have, do you happen to have an orphaned side that I could turn into bindings?

Hi Pat, I need to process some black acacia bindings in the next couple of days and I was planning on doing some bubinga at the same time. So I can process them. They will be (for the Swap meet) $3 per piece. Now, if this works for you, do you want whiter sap wood or the darker heart wood?

Sweet isn't it! Sadly I can't take credit for it's creation, that goes to my buddy Michael Collins. He put into a top of mine and it just arrived at my door one day. He is a pretty generous guy! I did get your email Dennis, I haven't had a chance to go through it all yet but I will be when I get back into truss rod thinkin' mode. Right at the moment I am running a small program on the CNC Machine. If it does what I hope then I will be posting a small product expansion in a couple of hours (or less!)

So, one of my good customers (I really don't have any other kind ) asked if I was making radius sanding blocks. So, just cause I like trying new things, I guess now I am! These are the first ones that I have made on the CNC and I just did them tonight. These are made of Birch and this will be the wood I will continue to use:





The ones pictured here are all 16" radius. The two on the bottom are double sides, both at 16" (finer sandpaper will be added to the second side) and the two on the top are single radius, again 16". There are two lengths, 8" and 12". Now the beauty of these is that you are not confined to standard radii or even block length (I mill them 24" at a time). The time in CNC is really in the fixtures to hold work for machining and that is done. So now I will draw files for different radii and have them ready but if someone wants a radius not available elsewhere (or they just like shopping at HMTC ) then I can do that as well for no additional cost (except then it becomes available as a stock item). Here are the prices:

Single radius:
8" - $14.50
12" - $17.50

Double radius (same on both sides or a different radius on either side):
8" - $15.50
12" - $18.50

There ya have it! That is what I have been up to this evening!

Shane, those double-radius blocks are great! I'd like to get a 12" long block with a 16" radius on both sides.

Don't pack it up 'til we talk, though, as I'm sure there will be other goodies!

How wide are the radius blocks? You have me thinking how Im going to radius the 6 string basses I want to start building.

Hey Zach, they are 3". I can probably go to 3.375 with my fixture but would have to make a new hold down to go wider than that.

Here are four different woods/colours. All are $4 per piece and these are all premium figure. They are over .25 high and over .105 thick but have not been thickness sanded on the faces. They are right off the saw. (EDIT: I just went and sanded them, there are a few saw marks but mostly clean at .105")



So from the left we have, red bubinga, white bubinga (the photo does not all show the quality of figure in the white stuff), curly acacia (Aussie Blackwood) and curly maple.

I have about 50 or so pieces of each of the bubinga and I have a few hundred pieces of maple and a couple of hundred pieces of acacia.

These will be the last items listed for the swap.
